{"id":20303,"date":"2020-08-05T18:33:09","date_gmt":"2020-08-05T18:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mfwa.org\/?post_type=publication&#038;p=20303"},"modified":"2020-11-18T14:18:24","modified_gmt":"2020-11-18T14:18:24","slug":"west-africa-internet-rights-monitor-report-april-june-2020","status":"publish","type":"reports","link":"https:\/\/demo.mfwa.org\/fr\/reports\/west-africa-internet-rights-monitor-report-april-june-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"West Africa Internet Rights Monitor Report (April-June 2020)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Five journalists, three social media users, and two activists from five countries in West Africa suffered abuse for publications of content online.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This is according to the Internet Rights Monitor Report produced by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) for the second quarter of 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">All the violations recorded during the period under review were perpetrated by state security agencies, state officials and individuals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Regarding internet use by women, Niger has emerged the country that is closest to closing the digital gender gap, with 49.7% of women Facebook users compared to 50.3% men.
